Some of the most fascinating, innovative, and up-to-date information is available from university weather servers. Typically operated by Meteorology or Earth Sciences schools, they often run their own forecast models and have current satellite photos, surface/upper air observations, and radar images (radar viewing is usually limited to .EDU domain viewers only).

Penn State University has a special User Weather Observations Page that allows home users from around the world to post their weather observations to the Web, where they are automatically plotted on national, regional, and state maps. The University of Michigan's Weather Underground has interactive maps with the latest forecasts and conditions while their WeatherNet adds listings of weather cam shots from several cities, every NEXRAD site in the country, satellite imagery, and more weather links than you can imagine!
