The following pictures were taken in Dedham, MA on Sunday and Monday, November 4th and 5th, 2001. Pictures 3-8 were taken Sunday afternoon while 9-12 were taken Monday.

The pictures are of a bright yellow bird feeding at Niger tube feeders. Several winter plumage American Goldfinches are also on the feeders; the mystery bird appeared only slightly longer although much more plump. The head, back, and upper wings appear to be a yellowish gray while the undersides and eyebrow line are an intense yellow. In certain images (3, 10, 11), the ends of the primaries appear to show some white and black; the tail is similarly colored and slightly notched.

The bird is presumed to be an escaped cage bird and a member of the genus Serinus.
